Piezoelectric transducers (PEPs) are devices that convert electrical energy into mechanical energy and vice versa, based on the piezoelectric effect.
PEPs produced by NPP “MDR Grup” are divided into the following groups:
- I – contact straight separate-jointed with a flat contact surface and prisms of P112 type, designed for manual control of violation of continuity and homogeneity of materials.
- II – contact inclined combined with a flat contact surface and prisms of P121 type, used for manual quality control of welds and base metal of structural elements.
- III – contact straight lines combined with flat contact surface and tread of P111 type, used for control of heterogeneity of materials.
PEPs are single-channel, single-function products with a complex mode of operation that cannot be repaired or restored.
As part of flaw detectors PEPs are used for ultrasonic non-destructive testing of welded seams in rails welded by electrocontact or aluminothermic method in order to detect production, technological defects, as well as fatigue and corrosion-fatigue cracks formed during operation.
In addition, PEPs can be used as part of echo-pulse ultrasonic flaw detectors of other manufacturers to detect similar defects.
In terms of temperature resistance the PEPs correspond to the range from -40°C to +50°C.
In terms of mechanical resistance they correspond to the vibration-resistant and vibration-proof version of group N1.
In terms of protection against external influences the PEPs have a version protected against penetration of solid particles (dust) and water.
MDR Grup guarantees the quality and reliability of its piezoelectric transducers for effective ultrasonic inspection.
