The flaw detector is designed for detection, registration and decoding of signals from defects in rails of railroad tracks with track gauge from 990 to 1550 mm, located along the entire length and cross-section of the rail, except for the sole feathers. The flaw detector is also designed for random manual inspection of welded joints, separate sections and sections of rails with determination of location coordinates, detectability coefficient, and conditional length of detected defects.
The rails are subject to control:
– rails of P43, P50, P65, P75 type, the dimensions, material and composition of which correspond to GOST 7173 and GOST R51685-2013, and surface quality – to GOST 18576;
– rails of UIC60, S49 type, the dimensions, material and composition of which correspond to EN 13674-1;
– rails of connecting tracks, crossing rails, crossing whiskers, shackles and frame rails of switches, the dimensions, material and composition of which comply with GOST R51685-2013 and GOST R 55820-2013.
The flaw detector is a portable mechanized system of ultrasonic inspection using the echo-method (EM), mirror-method (MM) and mirror-shadow method (MSTM) with the contact method of ultrasonic vibrations input (USI). The number of channels, realized when working with acoustic blocks in the mode of continuous inspection, for each of the track threads – 14, 8 of them with realization in the channel of separate, and 6 – combined scheme of radiation and reception of ultrasonic vibrations.
The number of channels of excitation and reception of ultrasonic vibrations, provided for work with manual piezoelectric transducers (PEP), – 3.
Signaling of the presence of defects – audio and color on the screen of the flaw detector. Indication of the set values of conditional sensitivity of the channels control (dB), defect detectability coefficient (dB), defect coordinates (mm), current track coordinate of the controlled track section (km and m) – digital on the indicator screen.
There is a provision for continuous documentation (registration) of the inspection results in the form of defectograms of the inspected sections in the type B sweep format, with accompanying information about the amplitude and time characteristics of the registered echo-signals, the conditional sensitivity of the inspection set in each of the inspection channels and the current values of the track coordinate. There is a possibility of operative viewing of registered defectograms on the flaw detector screen, as well as output of defectograms with accompanying information to a personal computer (PC) for further decoding.
Electronic unit of flaw detector UDS2 – RDM – 24 is made in dust and water-proof version with protection degree IP54.
The flaw detector UDS2-RDM-24 uses an original sounding scheme, which provides simultaneous control of the working and non-working edges of the rail head, as well as the upper central part of the rail head.
In order to expand the possibilities of the continuous inspection mode of rails in both track lines, it is possible to use two sounding schemes, which are respectively assigned letter indices A2 and B2. The selected sounding scheme is programmed in the flaw detector setup menu and realized with the help of acoustic blocks AB1 and AB2.
Schematic of the sounding:
- The sounding scheme for continuous control of both track threads provides realization on its basis of 14 control channels for each thread with the possibility of independent adjustment of amplification in each of the channels.
- A2 sounding scheme provides detection of defects in the rail head at an early stage of development, allows to increase the reliability of inspection of rails whose wear is close to the maximum permissible, as well as rails with dimensions and (or) profile of the rail head deviating from the standard.
- The B2 sounding scheme provides improved detectability of defects located in the upper part of the working and non-working edges of the rail head.
Each of the acoustic blocks AB1 and AB2 has a block identifier. The identifier allows the electronic block to determine the correctness of connection of acoustic blocks to the connectors of the connecting cable, and to read the parameters of transducers included in the acoustic block.
To move the flaw detector along the rails, a flaw detector cart is used, which is available in different modifications, including a lightweight one for operation in subway conditions.
Additional technical characteristics of flaw detector UDS2-RDM-24:
